Market Data Charts Training
Make sure you've been added to the IDT user list - to get on the list go to iSite and submit an access request.
Step By Step Guide
- Step 1: Log into iSite, and click on 'Create New->Market Data Charts' (top-right):
You will see a message telling you to "Categorise the CPS page as 'Interactive'". This is important, we'll come back to this later.
Choose a name for your chart. You may want to re-use your chart or encourage your colleagues to use it, so it's best to name it something descriptive:
- Step 3: Select the type of chart you want to make. There are 4 options: Whichever type you selected, now click the 'Launch Market Data Chart Builder' link in the 'Chart Builder' box:
Step 4: Company charts
The interface for companies is a little different from the others. It was built earlier and works slightly differently.
In the new window, choose your required Stock Exchange:
Enter a company name or ticker symbol or choose a company from the list if necessary. You will need to know the ticker rather than the name. You can google this or use an online tool like this one.
Choose a time period. The default is 1 day.(Note: Commodity prices are NOT available for 1 day)
You must then click the search button.
- Step 7: After clicking the search button, your chart will be generated. If you're happy with your chart, click 'Save and Exit' in the top-right (see screenshot above). You will be returned to iSite.
Step 8: Other Chart Types
The interface for Currency, Exchange and Commodity charts are all very similar. Select the chart you want from a dropdown. Choose the time period you are interested in and click "Go"
The other steps are the same as for companies.
If you decide to use the include, copy the url from iSite.
Then in CPS, add an 'Include File' to your page.
Finally, paste the include path from iSite into the 'Web' field, then put a name in the Title field.
You should now have an IDT Market Data chart included in your CPS page.
As the warning in iSite says, if you have decided to use an interactive chart, you MUST now add the "interactive" category to you CPS page. If you don't the chart will not display in the News Mobile App.
